District Advancement Guide
Remember, the District Advancement Committee has published an Advancement Guide. You can download a copy from the District Web Site. If you don't have access to the internet give Dave a call and he will make sure you get one.
Virtual Honor Roll
In an on-going effort to identify and honor Scouts and Scouters in Washington Trail District, the District Advancement Committee is requesting the assistance of all units in gathering information. The Committee is developing a virtual Honor Roll that will be accessible on the District Web Site and published annually at the District Recognition Dinner. Our goal is to prepare a list of all Unit Leaders and Eagle Scouts from Washington Trail District past and present. See the web site for more details.
Eagle Project Safety Guidance
Over the summer, the Advancement Committee prepared safety guidance for use when planning Eagle Scout Leadership Service Projects. Please be sure to download a copy of this document and provide it to your Life Scouts as they begin the initial planning of their Project. The Committee does consider safety as part of the review process.
Parent Guide to Eagle Courts of Honor
We also published an information sheet on Eagle Courts of Honor for parents of newly approved Eagle Scouts. This provides a starting point for Parents as they work with the Troop to plan the Eagle Scout's Court of Honor. Again, this can be downloaded from the District Web Site.
Getting Awards from the Service Center
Speaking of Courts of Honor, it is very important that you remember to allow at least two weeks to process your awards for an upcoming ceremony. It is even more important for you to remember to send enough money to cover the cost of the awards or be sure you have enough credit in your account. The Service Center will not run a tab for your Unit.
Merit Badge Counselor Lists
We are still waiting for several units to update their Merit Badge Counselor List. If you haven't sent in your information yet please do so. We hope to publish the lists in October. If you need information before then, contact Dave Shafer.
Advancement Committee Chairman
Dave Shafer is once again the Chairman of the District Advancement Committee. If you have any questions or problems you can call Dave at his office, home or e-mail him, preferably.
