CHILD ABUSE

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

French Creek Council, BSA

800-851-2392

Contacting the Council Scout Executive

The Boy Scouts requires immediate notification of the Council Scout Executive whenever information about possible child abuse in the Boy Scout program is uncovered. The current policy for after-hours notifications is to wait until the next business day and call the McGarvey Service Center in Erie at 800-851-2392. Please ask to speak directly with Steve Charboneau. The Scout Executive will ensure that all state reporting requirements have been met and will also take measures to protect the youth in the Scouting movement.

If an immediate report is to be made due to extreme urgency, you should contact your local County Children and Youth Services Agency. The Council Scout Executive must be contacted as soon as possible afterwards as explained above.
